What do you do when you can’t eat the things you love?

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with food allergies and I have to admit it was not an easy transition to make. I was a foodie who loved my desserts! The gluten-free, allergen-friendly baked treats on the market were dense, dry or just not very good.

When I couldn’t find the perfect baking mix that I was looking for, I set out to make it myself. It took years to perfect the recipe, and I promise it was worth the wait. All of our products are gluten free, wheat free, egg free, soy free, nut free, dairy free, and vegan. We believe that a great dessert can be made with clean, healthy, and high quality ingredients without compromising flavor.

I used to be able to eat anything I wanted. However, I was also taking a lot of medications for different health problems. Every time I went to the doctor, I got prescribed a new medication – but I never felt better. A few years ago, I was tired of constantly being sick and decided to make an appointment with an integrative medical doctor. This visit changed my life forever.

I was told that I could not eat gluten, dairy, and shellfish any longer. I was devastated. I had no idea how to start this new journey. I was a foodie and enjoyed eating different types of food – especially dessert! However, I was tired of always being sick and overweight. So, I gave it a try. I had two very good friends that had the same restrictions who helped me get started. Within a couple of months, I started feeling better, and I have been able to eliminate a lot of my prescription medications.

During this journey, I discovered that there is a misconception among people who have food allergies and restrictions. A lot of people believe that restrictions mean steamed vegetables for dinner every night and no more sweet treats. While I enjoy steamed vegetables, I am a firm believer that gluten-free and vegan desserts can be tasty and exciting – then I tasted some of the products on the market! Anyone that has tasted some of the gluten-free and vegan dessert options knows that many come up short on taste. That is why I decided to leave my life in the corporate world behind and start The Vegan Knife.

Through hard work and dedication, I developed tasty baking mixes that are a must for any gluten-free and vegan pantry! I look forward to serving you and embarking on this journey together!
